HAPPY 1ST ANNIVERSARY FIRE EMBLEM HEROES!

Woo! First post of 2018!

With the Radiant Dawn banner slated to be released tomorrow at 11 pm PST, and the first anniversary of FE Heroes coming up in three weeks, I've decided to do a celebratory pic featuring three of the strongest women of each color released into the game thus far. It was actually pretty hard for me to choose which girls would end up in the pic, especially when you consider that I already had Lyn and Lucina in two pics that I had done in 2016.

As for my own FEH experience so far, I started playing the game in late April, after getting banned from Kuroi Hoshi's chat. For a gacha game, it's actually pretty friendly to players who are F2P, and there is a wide assortment of characters from every game in the series. However, I had a rough time plaything through at first. The summons I pulled during my first two months of the game were mostly garbage, with Jeorge being my only 5* unit for the longest time. Things changed in June when I pulled a 5* Lucina from the first Tempest banner as well as scrounging enough feathers to upgrade the Camus that I had won from clearing his GHB, thus giving me a real team. But I was still miffed at the fact that my barracks were mostly full of garbage and I had very few 5* units, and my god awful luck made sure that I didn't pull anything good. Well, that is until I became a P2W player in late August. Ever since then, I have been able to get high quality 5* units, including a Hector, an Ayra, and even some seasonal units.

Now that I've talked about my own history, I'm now going to rant on two of the game's features.

The Arena:

Oh good lord... where do I begin on this one... The Arena is a game mode where you can pit your team against an AI-controlled version of another player's team. They're supposed to be fairly fun, quick paced fights. But in recent months, arena has become complete cancer. The thing is that a lot of players put up horse emblem teams to use as their defense teams, and most of these teams are unoriginal and obnoxious to deal with, especially due to two units: Reinhardt and Brave Lyn, one of which hits you really hard and fast while being able to block counterattacks from common DC units such as Hector or Ike, and the other hits you twice with very strong magic. Flier teams are also obnoxious to deal with, since they can ignore terrain, and many of them can carry firesweep weapons (which stop counters) in conjunction with movement skills to ensure they never get hit. That being said, arena is still a good place to rack up feathers and orbs.

Voting Gauntlets:

This event is pretty reviled, and for good reason. The intent of these gauntlets is that it's a popularity contest and that players would spend flags on the character they chose to side with. However, it was usually very one-sided since people could go on Reddit to look up the scores and simply join the team with the highest score to get the most rewards. The addition of multipliers was intended to give losing teams a better chance at winning, but all they did, especially now, is turn VGs into a fucking luck-based-mission, since the timing of when one side gets a multiplier can make or break matches. And as for the VG fights, fuck them. Fuck them to hell. How VG fights work is that you fight with your lead unit, and you are given a unit from your friend list as well as a unit from another player not on your friend list. Seems pretty nice until you get to the fact that which units are chosen are random. All too often, I lead off with a unit of a certain color, only for my allies to be the same color and I get pitted against enemies that all have WTA on me. Ugh...

A Poke-Christmas 2017

Hey guys. This is my submission for this year's Christmas fest. Hope you enjoy.

While I'm here, I may as well tell you all some fun facts about Santa Claus:
- In order for Santa to visit every single house in the world, accounting for time zones, he would have to travel at roughly Mach 2000. Going this fast would also mean you'd hear Santa coming from roughly 50 miles away.
- If Santa's sleigh were to travel that fast, it would exert a force of roughly 4,000,000 PSI. This is well beyond the amount of force needed to turn a human body into chunky salsa.
- Santa's sack of gifts would weigh about 300,000 tons. Every time he makes a landing, he would make a crater approximately 2.4 miles in diameter.
- Elves as depicted in the Santa folklore do not exist, as far as we know. The vast majority of toys distributed in the US and Canada are imported from countries that have no laws against child labor.

Ultra Lunar Eclipse

Ok, this was actually supposed to be uploaded a month ago, but Louis had gotten backlogged so... yeah. Anyways, I had bought Pokemon Ultra Sun the day it came out, and from what I've played so far, here is my critique of the game:

New Pokemon Revealed:

For the first time in its history, Game Freak has actually introduced new Pokemon species within the same generation, adding in three new Ultra Beasts and an event Legendary. Among these, Naganadel is probably the most notable, in that he got sent to Ubers about a week after the games were released. He has absolutely monstrous special offenses and a very good offensive typing in poison/dragon, along with the movepool to make use of the above two parameters. As for the others, while Blacephalon is also pretty scary thanks to his good mixed offenses and decent speed, Stakataka is pretty underwhelming since he has a defensive statline, but a terrible defensive typing to make use of said defenses.

New Formes for Necrozma:

As usual since Gen IV, whenever a new game within the same generation comes out, a legendary Pokemon that was not prominently featured in the previous games gets an uber buff in the form of new formes (pun intended). In Necrozma's case, he received two new formes depending on which of the S/M cover legends the player fused him with, which not only changes his appearances, but gives him a similar statline to that of the legend he assimilated with (Atk/Def for Solgaleo and SpA/Spd for Lunala). As if this wasn't enough, by giving him an Ultranecrozium Z, he can transform into Ultra Necrozma, a psychic/dragon type with 167/167/129 offenses and an ability that increases the power of super effective moves by 20%. And to top it all off, he gets a new signature move called Photon Geyser, which is a 100 BP move that uses whichever of his attacking stats is higher to calculate damage. Yeah, I think we should all tremble in fear now.

Mantine Surf/Move Tutors:

Another addition to the game that I found to be enjoyable is Mantine Surf. It's a fun minigame where the player must ride a tidal wave while performing tricks and dodging Pokemon. Performing well in this minigame will earn the player Beach Points (BP), which can then be used to buy moves at the Move Tutors scattered across Aloha. Like in most third installment games, the move tutors are back to teach the player powerful moves, but unlike in most games, these tutors aren't tucked away in a postgame battle facility nor do they require a rare resource as payment, which makes them fairly accessible during the story mode.

Fairy Tail Halloween 2017

Hey guys. Sorry if this is two days late, but I wanted to do something for Halloween, and what better way to celebrate the occasion by taking two characters from one franchise and dressing them up as two characters from another franchise.

Since NaLu had won a plurality (almost a majority) of the votes in the Halloween poll, I decided to have them featured in this pic, dressed as Link and Linebeck from The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Link and Linebeck costumes were chosen because I liked the interactions between the two characters in the game, so... this was my way of putting them into a pic without actually doing so, since both me and Hoshi detest yaoi/GiD.

No credit to Douglas Garret and other GrayLu shippers.

Also, feels go great to get a Hoshi commission again now that I have a $20 pledge to him. Check him out if you want, but note that you won't find me there because I'm permanently banned.

Ice-Cold Rainy Passion Redux

Well, it finally happened. Fairy Tail's last chapter came out a few days ago, and not only has NaLu been heavily implied to be canon, Gruvia is now 100% confirmed to be canon as well. With that, GrayLu is now 100% confirmed to be dead, and I thought it would be a good idea to write an eulogy for it.

GrayLu was a crack pairing between FT mages Gray Fullbuster and Lucy Heartfilia. I honestly have no fucking idea how this pairing came to be, but my guess is that a deluded fangirl saw a panel of Gray and Lucy standing next to each other, thought they looked cute together, and started creating fanart of them.

Unfortunately, two characters looking good together does not a legitimate pairing make. There also needs to be a foundation that a romantic relationship could exist between the two characters, and GrayLu is sorely lacking in this. Even NaLi had a foundation in the form of the childhood flashbacks, even though the foundation was built on quicksand. GrayLu doesn't even have that, as Mashima gave them no emotional development even in the earlier chapters, and the interactions they do have can be interpreted as a friendship moment at best.

When compared to the development that Gruvia received, GrayLu doesn't begin to compare. Not even close. Like... the closest thing we get to anything resembling a romantic GrayLu moment is a fucking head pat, and even then, it doesn't develop their relationship beyond a simple friendship. Meanwhile, Gruvia received immensely powerful emotional development over the course of 500+ chapters. Let's think about this. If Gray didn't have feelings for Juvia, then why were they able to perform a perfect unison raid on the first attempt? Or why was it that Juvia was the first person that Gray went to for comfort after Silver's death? If Gray disliked Juvia, then why did he consent to living with her under the same roof for six fucking months? Also, recall that Gray went apeshit after Juvia "killed" herself in order to escape a life chain that Invel put on them. And finally, in the very last chapter, Gray finally admitted that he wanted Juvia's body, and that he was ok with her starting a relationship with him.

Most of the arguments that flamethrowers like ZN-Lover used to defend their pairing were already asinine to begin with, but by the GMG arc, it was pretty clear that their pairing was being fueled by high octane delusion. One common argument I've seen GrayLu shippers use is that Juvia imagines Gray and Lucy hitting on one another. About that... while it is true that she had those fantasies, one must remember that those "moments" were in another character's head, and therefore don't count. Another favorite argument these clowns use is that Gray and Lucy fight together. So fucking what? Fighting together isn't grounds for romance and even if it was, Natsu and Lucy fought together at least three times as often, and they were even called "the strongest team" by their guildmates due to their compatibility. And those are just the two most commonly used arguments. Another user named AhmedGreat2005 created a list of reasons of why Gray and Lucy are compatible, and while it has long since been deleted, most of the reasons he came up with were false, had nothing to do with romance, or both. Among the reasons he posted was that Gray and Lucy both have stalkers. On top of not being grounds for romance, it is ironic that this clown would use that as an argument, seeing as Gray's "stalker" is the only love interest he has.

Regardless, I'm actually glad that Gruvia has been 100% confirmed to be canon, so any delusions of GrayLu having a chance can finally be put to rest once and for all. And with that, there's only one thing to say: Checkmate.

TL;DR? Gruvia is canon. GrayLu is dead. Deal with it. Game Over.
